چکیده
Human-centricity in manufacturing is becoming an essential enabler to achieve social sustainable manufacturing. In particular, human-centric automation can offer new means to increase competitiveness in the face of new social challenges for the factories of the future. This paper proposes a HumanCentred Reference Architecture that can structure and guide efforts to engineer Next Generation Balanced Automation Systems featuring adaptive automation that take into account various criteria in the operating environment such as time-lapse, performance degradation, age-, disabilityand inexperience-related limitations of operators to increase their working capabilities.

متن کاملA Reference Architecture for Automation of Inter-Organizational Process-Oriented Collaboration
In today’s competitive, dynamic, and changing business environment, being able to collaborate globally within and beyond the enterprise borders is critical. Inter-Organizational Collaborations (IOCs) have been proposed as a response to the characteristics of highly competitive global business environments. So far, a number of reference models, frameworks, and ad hoc architectures related to som...
متن کاملHuman-centred design in aviation
This paper focuses on the next challenges that, in the near future, ergonomics has to cope with in the aviation domain. After a short excursus, showing the accidents dynamics along the years and pointing out the relative causes, the paper illustrates the difference between two different conception of automation: a generic human (user) friendly versus a specific pilot-friendly concept. This is u...
متن کاملError assessment in man-machine systems using the CREAM method and human-in-the-loop fault tree analysis
Background and Objectives: Despite contribution to catastrophic accidents, human errors have been generally ignored in the design of human-machine (HM) systems and the determination of the level of automation (LOA). This paper aims to develop a method to estimate the level of automation in the early stage of the design phase considering both human and machine performance. Methods: A quantita...
متن کاملThe effects of level of automation and adaptive automation on human performance, situation awareness and workload in a dynamic control task
This paper extends previous research on two approaches to human-centred automation: (1) intermediate levels of automation (LOAs) for maintaining operator involvement in complex systems control and facilitating situation awareness; and (2) adaptive automation (AA) for managing operator workload through dynamic control allocations between the human and machine over time. Some empirical research h...
